Terms of Service
By using Motly, you agree to the following terms of service.
Effective Date: 2nd November 2025
Welcome to Motly! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Motly mobile application ("Motly", "we", "us", or "our"). By using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Motly.
Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Motly, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. Continued use constitutes acceptance of any updates to these Terms.
1. What Motly Does
Motly helps UK drivers:
- Check vehicle information using a valid UK registration number.
- View publicly available data related to MOT, tax status, and vehicle details.
- Receive in-app notifications reminding them of upcoming MOT and tax due dates.
Motly is not affiliated with the DVLA, HMRC, or any UK government agency.
2. Use of the App
You may use Motly without creating an account. However, by using the app, you agree that:
- You are using the app legally and responsibly.
- You will not monitor vehicles you do not own or have permission to track.
- You will not use the app for bulk data collection, resale, or commercial purposes.
3. Data Sources and Accuracy
Motly displays data sourced from third-party public APIs (such as the DVLA's open data). We strive to keep the information accurate and current, but we cannot guarantee that all MOT and tax information is always up-to-date or correct.
Always confirm deadlines directly with official UK government sources.
Motly is not responsible for missed MOTs, unpaid tax penalties, or any consequences resulting from relying solely on the app.
4. Notifications
Motly sends in-app reminders based on the vehicle data you provide. Notifications are not sent via email, text, or push (outside the app).
You are responsible for:
- Opening the app to view reminders.
- Ensuring you check dates manually if needed.
We do not guarantee that all reminders will be shown, or that they will appear in a timely manner.
5. App Availability & Changes
We may update or remove features from Motly at any time without prior notice. Access to the app may be interrupted for maintenance or due to external service outages.
6. Limitation of Liability
Motly is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including missed MOTs, tax issues, fines, or vehicle-related costs — resulting from your use of the app. We are also not responsible for inaccuracies, outages, or issues caused by third-party services, such as DVLA APIs or Google Firebase.
7. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Motly at any time if you violate these Terms or engage in unlawful or harmful activity.
8. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts of England and Wales.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the app, and your continued use means you accept the latest version.
